Dr. Maliner grew up in Hollywood, Florida, the son of a well known otolaryngologist. His father practiced in Hollywood for 50 years and was the inspiration for a career in medicine. After graduating with a degree in physics from Union College in Schenectady, NY he obtained his M.D. from the University of South Florida in 1990. He then went on to complete his residency in Hershey, PA as part of the Penn State program in 1998. He eventually returned to South Florida and joined the Memorial Hospital System in 2002, but has been in private practice for the past 10 years.
Dr. Maliner is an expert in spine and brain care. He treats brain disease such as tumors and hydrocephalus. He is proficient in spine surgery for lumbar and cervical stenosis, disc herniations, fractures, and tumors. Dr. Maliner considers himself a true minimally invasive surgeon in that he not only operates through small incisions, but he also does the minimal amount of surgery. His philosophy is to perform surgery only when necessary, and do so with as little damage to the body as possible: minimize collateral damage.
Dr. Maliner has 3 office locations spanning Broward County and is on staff at 6 hospitals. He is particularly proud and grateful for his small but efficient bilingual office staff consisting of Jennifer, the manager, and Claudia.
